Frequently Asked Questions
Don't see your question below? Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What types of lavender do you grow on your farm?
We grow three different cultivars: Munstead (a Lavandula angustifola, sometimes called an English lavender), and Phenomenal and Provence (both Lavandula x intermedia, sometimes referred to as French lavenders).
Are your products all-natural?
Yes! We only use natural ingredients in our products. The essential oil and hydrosol we produce from our lavender are 100% pure without any additives and our honey is raw and unprocessed.
Is your lavender organic?
Due to the annual cost, we have not yet applied for organic certification, but we are planning to do so soon. Even though we don't have the USDA logo on our products, we do follow all of their required organic farming practices. Be assured that we never use pesticides of any kind in our fields.
Is your farm property open to the public?
Unfortunately, no. After the pandemic has ended, we do hope to host a few community days each year when the public will be invited to visit our farm. Occasionally we open our building in Foster, WV for pop-up sales and we would love to meet you then. These special events will be advertised here on our website and in our social media feeds.
When is your lavender in bloom and when do you harvest?
Different types of lavender bloom at different times, but most of our plants bloom in June and early July and then they have a smaller second bloom in the fall around October. Most of our lavender is harvested soon after the buds begin to open in order to capture the best quality lavender oil, but we do allow some of our plants to bloom longer so that our bees can collect the nectar and pollen.
Do you sell lavender plants?
We do not ship live plants so you will not find them for sale on our website, but if you live locally and are interested in ordering lavender plants, please contact us as we may be willing to arrange a sale and an in-person pick up.
I've planted lavender in my garden. How do I take care of it?
Well cared for lavender plants can live 15-20 years, but they are particular about the soil and climates that they prefer, and each cultivar is different. Read our blog post on growing lavender to learn about proper plant care.
Where can I find an ingredients list for your products?
Each product page on our online store has a tab that says “ingredients.” If you click on the tab you can see the ingredient list for that product.
Do your products have an expiration date?
Lavender essential oil has a shelf life of 6 years and lavender hydrosol has a shelf life of 2 years. We track our products by lot numbers so that we can monitor their expiration dates. If you have any concerns or questions about a particular product, please contact us at email@example.com.
Where can I purchase your products?
We currently sell our products here in our online shop, and in retail shops throughout West Virginia. If you would like to shop our products in person, visit our list of retailers to find a store near you. Occasionally we hold pop-up events at our building in Foster, WV where you can meet us and purchase our products. These special events will be advertised here on our website and in our social media feeds.
May I place an order by phone?
Yes, but be aware that we are a small business with limited staff and someone is not always available to take an order over the phone. Feel free to call us at 304-956-4015 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and someone will get back in touch with you.
